Welcome to Peter Kesby Photography, featuring a collection of landscape, seascape, wildlife and transport photography by Dover-based photographer Peter Kesby. My photography is inspired by the landscapes, coastline, wildlife and working heritage of Dover, Kent and the surrounding area, with many of the places featured being locations I have known and photographed for many years.
Land & Seascape Photography
The main focus of my work is local landscape and seascape photography, particularly around Dover and the Kent coast. From Dover Castle, the White Cliffs and Dover Harbour to St Margaret’s Bay, Kingsdown, Walmer, Deal and the surrounding countryside, I enjoy capturing familiar locations in changing light, weather and seasons. Sunrises and sunsets, dramatic skies, winter snow, coastal storms and night photography can transform even the most familiar view into something quite different.
Transport Art
Another important part of my photography is Transport Art, reflecting my long-standing interest in railways, aviation and maritime subjects. My collections include Rail Transport Art, Aviation Art and Maritime Art, ranging from historic and modern railway subjects to aircraft, ships and the maritime activity associated with Dover and the English Channel. I particularly enjoy creating photographs that combine the character of the subject with its surroundings rather than simply recording the vehicle itself.
Local Nature in Focus
My Local Nature in Focus collection celebrates the wildlife found close to home, with a particular emphasis on British bird photography. Photographing birds and other local wildlife is both rewarding and relaxing, requiring patience and an appreciation of the quieter moments in the natural world. Robins and other familiar British birds feature prominently, alongside wildlife encountered around Kent’s coast, countryside and gardens.
Agricultural Art
The working countryside provides another source of photographic inspiration. My Agricultural Art collection features tractors, farm machinery, rural landscapes and scenes that reflect the agricultural heritage of Kent and the surrounding area. These photographs celebrate both the machinery itself and the important part farming continues to play in the character of the local landscape.
Local Calendars
Each year I also produce a selection of local photography calendars, bringing together some of my favourite images from particular areas. My calendars feature photographs of Dover, St Margaret’s Bay, Kingsdown, Walmer and Deal, providing a different local scene to enjoy each month and making them popular gifts for residents, visitors and anyone with a connection to this part of Kent.
